Kick-off for Pharmacy Small Angle Scattering Hub

DRA symposium

The symposium has the goal to give an introduction on SAXS and SANS applied to pharma-related questions and give an overview of the applications of SAX/NS in the ongoing research at the Department.

Small-angle scattering (SAS) techniques have shown their strong capability in pharmaceutical sciences. However, even for the expert users, the experimental designing and data analysis are not necessarily optimised for each system routinely used within the department. Such observation is not unique here, and rather common in the SAS user community.

This presents our department an opportunity to form a cohesive SAS community to tackle many of the basic (e.g., sample preparation for nanoparticles and forming structure-activity relationships) and advanced challenges (e.g., developing novel data analysis, designing in-situ experiments, and deconvoluting scattering contributions). The establishment of Pharmacy Small Angle Scattering Hub (PSASH) aims to develop a technical support and collaborative community and increase the effective research impact of the department.

PSASH will kick-off with the DRA symposium, this will be a great opportunity for PhD students to meet expert SAS users and discuss the use of these techniques in their projects.

The symposium is organized on behalf of the graduate programme in pharmaceutical sciences, Drug Research Academy, by Tenure Track Assistant Professor Federica Sebastiani, Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

The symposium is free of charge and open for attendance by all interested parties.
