Subunit-selective NMDA receptor antagonists

DRA lecture held by Dr. Bernhard Wünsch, Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry, University of Munster, Germany.

The development of novel antagonists of the ionotropic NMDA receptor, in particular on GluN2B subtype-selective antagonists interacting with the ifenprodil binding site of the GluN2B subunit is presented. General principles used in Medicinal Chemistry, such as late-stage diversification, structure-affinity relationships and considering pharmacokinetic aspects at an early stage of development will be reported.
